Not Much Time...

Hey Everyone!

So has some of you might have heard, we have a hurricane coming in tomorrow. Hurricane Isaac. Anyway, the library is closing at one today because of it. so in 14 minutes. We didn't realize that or else we would have come earlier.

Anyway, the storm is nothing to worry about. We have protocol all put in place, etc. People seem to be freaking out more then they should though. Several gas stations were sold out of gas last night over in Ocean Springs. Someone told us that everyone was buying water, bread, beer, peanut butter, and toilet paper. Much needed commodities. Hahaha.

We had an awesome week! I wish I had more time to tell you about it. We will try and stop by a member's house later to email more.

I love all of you and hope you have an awesome week! Don't worry about us down here. We'll weather the storm! :)

Love,
Elder Dwight Mendenhall

Alooooooooooooooha!

Aloooooha!

Yes that means hello and goodbye.

Sooooo...

A week in my life:

We had ZLC this past week. We drove up to Jackson on Thursday and spent the night in the mission home. That is always fun. We got to see all the other Zone Leaders plus three other missionaries who are going home on Thursday. Elder Shumway is one of them. I'm gonna miss him. We had a lot of fun serving around each other. He flys home Thursday and then Friday and Saturday he goes on a retreat for the ambassador program at Weber State. Sunday is his home coming talk and Monday he starts school. Just be glad I am going to be home for a month before I take off to Idaho.

Friday we actually had ZLC. It was a lot of fun to council with the other Zone Leaders and with President McDonough. Oh! I don't know if any of you remember Elder Bruderer (my district leader/ zone leader in Monroe) but he is one of the assistants now. Him and Elder Nykamp. Actually... there were 7 other missionaries that flew out with me, and out of those 7, five were at ZLC. So weird that all of us are in leadership positions and are now some of the senior missionaries in the mission.

We did a lot of service this week. Seems we are always serving, which is good. We helped the members across the street move into the house and then we helped them put in a floor in the dining room. We helped an older couple move some stuff in their house on Saturday. The sad thing is, they are basically going to go less active/inactive due to the irreverence in Sacrament meeting. In any "Mormon" church. Don't get me started on it. They fed us lunch and went on for a half hour about it. Anyway... moving on.

On a side note, I found out that I am related to Elder Burt (who is serving in Long Beach) and also a member here, Sister Curry. So, Ezekiel Johnson, who is my great, great, great, great grandfather is how we are related. I come through the George Washington Johnson line, and they some through two others. So Ezekiel is how we are related. It's pretty neat to be able to look at family history and see just how everyone comes together.

Well I am excited to have a full work week ahead. We are teaching district meeting to our whole zone on Wednesday about what we learned at ZLC. And we are also teaching our Book Of Mormon class that we started that night. This is the third week so far, and it is actually a pretty big success. :)

Well I love you all. Hope all is well :)

Love,
Elder Dwight Douglas Mendenhall
